Privacy Policy

wa2text is a personal messaging notification service that forwards your incoming WhatsApp messages to SMS. The service is operated by Nova Wave Telecom LLC, doing business as wa2text ("Nova Wave Telecom", "we", "us"). This page explains what we collect, why, and how we handle it. It is written to be read, not to hide behind. If anything here is unclear, email [email protected].
What we collect
- Account info: your email address, and your name if you sign in with Google.
- Password: if you sign up with email and password, we store only a one-way hash (bcrypt). The plain password is never written to disk and we cannot recover it — only reset it.
- Billing info: handled entirely by our payment processor. We never see or store your card number.
- Messaging metadata: the WhatsApp number you link and the SMS number you forward to.
- Sender phone numbers: when someone messages your WhatsApp, we record their phone number so you can see usage on your dashboard.
- Usage counts: how many messages flow through your account each billing period, used to enforce your plan.
- Technical: IP address and browser user-agent, kept short-term for security and abuse prevention.
What we do not keep
- Message text: the body of your WhatsApp messages is not stored. Messages pass through our servers for delivery and are gone within seconds. We retain only a length and a one-way fingerprint (SHA-256 hash) for fraud and duplicate detection — neither can be reversed back into the message.
- Media files (pictures, voice notes): held briefly on the server only long enough to deliver them, then automatically deleted within minutes.
- Card numbers: handled by our payment processor; never on our systems.
How we use what we collect
- To deliver the forwarding service you signed up for.
- To bill you for your plan.
- To contact you about service status, outages, or billing issues.
- To detect abuse, fraud, and platform violations.
We do not sell your data. We do not use message contents for advertising, analytics, or model training.
Service providers
We use a small number of third-party vendors to operate the service: an authentication provider, a payment processor, a WhatsApp connectivity partner, an SMS carrier, an email sender, and a hosting/proxy provider. Each receives only the minimum data needed to do its part of the job. We do not share message contents with advertisers or marketers.
Retention
- Message text: not stored.
- Media: auto-deleted within minutes of delivery.
- Sender phone numbers and usage counts: kept while your account is active, and for 90 days after cancellation, then deleted.
- Account info: same as above.
- Billing records: kept as long as required by tax and accounting law, typically up to 7 years.
Your choices
You can request a copy of your account data, correct it, or delete it by emailing [email protected]. Account deletion removes your records within 30 days, except records we are legally required to retain (such as tax and billing records). You can cancel your subscription at any time from the dashboard.
Security
All traffic between you, our servers, and your phone runs over HTTPS. Passwords are stored as bcrypt hashes. Database access is limited to specific server IPs. API keys are kept server-side only. No system is perfectly secure; if we ever suffer a breach that affects you, we will notify you by email without unreasonable delay.
Cookies
We use a small number of cookies to keep you signed in and to remember your preferences. We do not run third-party advertising trackers.
SMS / mobile messaging program
If you provide a mobile number to use the wa2text SMS forwarding service, we use that number solely to deliver the messages you have signed up for: forwarded WhatsApp notifications, replies that you initiate, and service alerts about your account, billing, and outages. We do not use your mobile number for marketing.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Phone numbers, opt-in status, and consent records are not sold, rented, or shared with any third party for their own marketing.

Children
The service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has signed up, email [email protected] and we will delete the account.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that affects you, we will post the new version here with an updated date and, for significant changes, email account holders before the change takes effect.
Governing law
This policy is governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict of laws principles. Any disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in New York.
