Common questions.

Do I need a new number?

No. We use your existing WhatsApp on one end and your existing phone number on the other. Nothing to port, no new SIM.

Does the other person know I'm using this?

No. Your replies come from your own WhatsApp account. The other person sees a normal WhatsApp message from you.

Is it private?

Yes. We don't keep your actual messages. They're delivered within seconds of us receiving them, then they're gone. Nobody at wa2text reads them. The only thing we keep is the phone numbers of who messaged you, so you can see your usage on the dashboard. Pictures and voice notes are held just long enough to deliver them — a few minutes at most — then deleted. Everything travels over encrypted connections.

Do I need to keep WhatsApp logged in on my phone?

Yes. wa2text links to your WhatsApp the same way WhatsApp Web does, so your main phone (the one WhatsApp is installed on) needs to stay logged in and come online at least once every 14 days. That's a WhatsApp rule, not ours — if the phone is off or logged out longer than that, WhatsApp drops every linked device (including us) and forwarding stops. Easy fix: open the dashboard and rescan the QR code to reconnect. Nothing is lost.

Can I choose which chats forward?

Yes. Direct messages forward by default. Group chats are off unless you turn them on one by one. Direct messages can be turned off too.

How fast are messages?

Usually under two seconds from WhatsApp landing to SMS arriving. Media takes a bit longer — still well under five seconds.

Will my carrier charge me for these texts?

They count as any other SMS on your plan. If you have unlimited texting, you won't notice anything.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. One click from the dashboard. No contracts, no phone calls, no fees.
